Use of Rooms in the Nursery

Class Rooms.

We have the use of 2 free-flow areas in the nursery.

Bumble bees - children aged 3mths - 2 -  Lower ground floor

caterpillars & Butterflies - children aged 2 - 5 - Ground floor

Each area has its own supply of toys, games, books and equipment suited to that age group. The learning environment is planned for daily by the practitioners taking into account the children’s interests & enjoyment.

The toddlers and pre-school children are quite often split into age group for group & garden times to ensure they are getting age related activities and experiences. They often come together for free play, meals & snacks.

The minimum staff ratio’s for each room are

Bumble bees - 1 - 3

Caterpillars - 1 - 4

Butterflies - 1 - 8

Garden Area.

Children will have use of the garden at least twice a day. They will be taken out in their classes. They will be led out down the stairs, ensuring that each child holds on to the handrail. A First Aid box for use in the garden, is located on the lower ground floor. The garden is equipped with slides, climbing frames and bikes suitable to the children’s age group.  The learning environment in the outdoor environment is planned for daily by the practitioners taking into account the children’s interests & enjoyment.

The garden is used wherever possible in all weathers.

The garden is also equipped with toys & resources to support the Early Years Foundation Stage.

The children do go out for walks of the local area. We have double buggies for the younger children to use.
